Zumo 550

Postby davidatno5 » Tue Feb 02, 2010 1:39 pm

Hi,
have just downloaded the world maps which went fine and I can access them on my PC through mapsourse. I thought I would be able to put them on a sd card and use them on the unit but it doesn't pick them up, can't even read them, says nothing is there. Am I doing something wrong? Files are stored as application. Great world maps. Can't wait to get on the road in May. Thanks for any help received.

What are you trying to say here?

Have you read the MS documentation/help screens on how to transfer maps to your unit? Zoom out, choose the map tool, select tiles, then hit the "Send" button with your GPS connected.

Cheers,
Peter.

Thanks Peter,
Things seemed to be getting worse for me. I brought the latest City Navigator North America NT 2010 version 6.15.6 and it has taken over everything and every time I try and open V2 my computer crashes so had to delete V2 world maps. I had CN europe 2008 installed on my computer which opened V2 fine intil I loaded CN NA 2010 which then automaticaly updated everything to 6.15.6. Didn't want to download V2 directly onto my unit but wanted to have them on the SD card but as the unit runs also on 6.15.6 I am assuming that they aren't compatible. Looked at link from last year about V2 not morking with 6.14 but bob said it was sorted. Is 6.15.6 a known problem?

I suggest you update MS to the latest version, viz 6.15.7. I'm using several different Wanderlust versions without problems here.

Your unit doesn't run 6.15.6: this is the version of Mapsource, which is on your PC only. When you say your PC crashes, what does actually happen?

Cheers,
Peter.

Hi Peter,
On Opening V2 everything siezes up. Worse time I had was to turn off the computer as the screen went black and nothing would work. Seems to be a memory problem. Opening V2 sends the memory into overload. Up graded to 6.15.11 which is a bit better but still not usable. https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=5705 seems to offer some hope in the future as I am running windows 7. How do I load maps onto a sd card to work in the zumo?
Thanks for your help
David

I don't have a Zumo, but generally speaking, in MS you hit the "Send" button. In the drop-down box it will show the Zumo, if it's connected. Just select the SD card in the box and go.

Sorry, can't help you with Windows 7.

Cheers,
Peter.
